Nuno Roma is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon (ULisboa) - Portugal.
He is also working at Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores - Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID), being a member of the Signal Processing Systems (SIPS) research group.
His research is mainly focused on the development and implementation of:
- specialised computer architectures for digital signal processing (including image and video coding/transcoding and biological sequences processing),
- High performance computing platforms, including parallel processing;
- embedded systems design for biomedical applications,
- compressed-domain video processing algorithms.
Nuno Roma is a Senior Member of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and a Member of ACM.
