European project - Cortivis (QLRT-2001-00279). Graduation Report

José Germano research interests include biomedical instrumentation, implantable and wearable bioelectronics and processor micro-architectures. He graduated as an Engineer in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, in 2004. In 2006 he finished is master thesis in which a platform for DNA recognition using a magnetoresistive biochip was studied and implemented. His Ph.D thesis was also focused in electronic systems for magnetoresistive based biosensing platforms. The developed embedded system, based on a DSP, performs the conditioning and acquisition of multiple biosignals and real-time processing. The analysis results are displayed in a computer through a graphical user interface. Taking his Ph. D. thesis as a starting point, his current research is focused on the improvement of the recognition system through the development of innovative advanced signal processing techniques for the extraction of the biorecognition information and of ultra-low noise/drift acquisition circuits.

Current Academic Activities:

  • Researcher - Embedded electronic systems
